The Balik-Turo: Research and Evidence-Based Practice Symposium will be held on January 27, 2016 at the University of the Philippines, College of Nursing, Julita V. Sotejo Hall, Pedro Gil Street corner Taft Avenue, Manila.

Most of us are aware that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’s annual 5K walk was held Sunday, Oct 18, 2015 at Balboa Park in San Diego, California.  More than 6,000 people mostly dressed in their pink garb, wearing costumes as angels or Superheroes, in their pink tutu’s and pink outfits laced up their walking shoes for this event.

A huge  achievement:  big congratulations to the PNAA Foundation and its  Research Committee Chair Rebecca Graboso, advisor, Dula Pacquiao, and members, Rose Estrada, Joy Duarte with Jean Doria. More than a year ago, the Philippine Humanitarian Coalition, which was the brainchild of Ambassador and Mrs. Jose Cuisia, Jr. collaborated with the US Philippine Society and held the After the Storm Concert at the  Kennedy Center to raise funds for the restoration and rebuilding of the Haiyan devastated areas.

2016 PNAA Bylaws Proposed Amendments

The PNAA Bylaws are the governing documents of our organization. The PNAA Bylaws committee in collaboration with the Executive Board review the PNAA Bylaws to ensure relevance, clarity, consistency and alignment with the PNAA mission, goals and policies. 

Please read proposed amendments for deliberation and approval at the General Assembly on Saturday, July 23, 2016. Discussions on these changes began over a year ago and was presented to you informally at the National Convention in Hawaii as well as presented during your regional conferences.

The Philippine Nurses Association of Wisconsin held their Health and Wellness Conference on June 6, 2015 at the Clinical Cancer Center, Froedtert Hospital and Medical College of Wisconsin. The theme was "Healthy Body, Healthy Minds: Holistic Approach in Nursing Practice”.

The Filipino Cancer Network of America-Michigan Chapter (FCNA-MI) was organized on December 29, 2014. It is a community-based outreach program under the auspices of the Philippine American Community Center of Michigan, an organization currently exempt under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

President Benigno Aquino III visited Chicago on a working visit on May 6-7, his first visit to the Us Midwest since assuming office in 2010. He was joined by key members of his cabinet, Trade and Industry Secretary Greg Domingo, Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima and Philippine Ambassador to US Jose Cuisia, Jr.

The Posthumous award has been awarded to Archimedes Jao, MD, for selfless acts of service and dedication as physician volunteer to health screenings and medical missions of PNAMDC through the years, transforming lives.

On November 22, 2014, the Philippine Nurses Association of Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Chapter offered a Continuing Education program with 4.0 contact hours.

North Central Region News

The NCR team had a face to face meeting in Las Vegas to discuss chapter and regional goals for the term. On top of NCR’s list is to increase membership and how to meet the goal of 30% increase that PNAA President Hermosa challenged chapters to achieve.

The Indiana House Bill 1310 allows a certified registered nurseanesthetist to administer anesthesia under the direction of and in the immediate presence of a podiatrist if the administration takes place in a hospital and a licensed physician is available to respond immediately in person to a medical emergency.
