 PNA WI Health and Wellness Conference

The Philippine Nurses Association of Wisconsin held their  Health and Wellness Conference on June 6, 2015 at the Clinical Cancer Center,  Froedtert Hospital and Medical College of Wisconsin. The theme was "Healthy Body, Healthy Minds: Holistic Approach in Nursing Practice”.  The organization aimed to focus on healthy living and the therapies in achieving positive results towards a healthy lifestyle. This event was sponsored by Grand Canyon University, World Financial Group, The Filipino Channel and Xtreme Green products.

The education committee chaired by Marilyn Mallari had assembled a lineup of local experts and knowledgeable speakers. Dr. Steven Denson, MD was an expert on "Dementia and Behavioral Disturbances”. Dr. David Songco, MA, Psy D. talked about “ Recognizing Mood and Anxiety Disorders within Inpatient Settings: Signs, Symptoms, Mindfulness based Interventions”. Kathryn Menard-Roche, MS, FAACVPR  discussed  “ Live Differently Today: Small Steps to Improve Health”. JoAnn Lomax BSN, MHA, RN presented thought provoking situations with “ Hostile, Confrontational and Difficult Families – Where do the Nurse Fit?”. The afternoon sessions of Yoga and Zumba provided the physical balance to this holistic approach. Ms. Elizabeth Boeck , MSW, LCSW kept the attendees entertained with Laughter yoga and Gentle Yoga. Nicole Re presented a highly charged session of Zumba.

 

It was a truly fun filled and productive educational experience.  All attendees received 5.1 contact  hours  after completion of the educational conference.
