2016 PNAA Nursing Excellence Awards Timeline

Submission of documents is via email ONLY on or before May 11, 2016

 

Purpose:
The Philippine Nurses Association of America, Inc. is offering annual scholarship award to a graduate student who is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Nursing, a Post Master’s degree or Doctoral degree.

 

Award:
The award is given annually for $1,000/semester for a total of $2,000 in one academic year. The PNAA Nursing Scholarship Award is presented to the recipient at the Annual PNAA National Convention, Gala Awards Night.

 

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Applicants must be a currently paid member of PNAA for one full year prior to the application.

  2. Admission and current matriculation in a nationally accredited Master’s or Doctoral Program.

  3. Grade Point Average (GPA.) of 3.0 or better.

  4. Evidence of commitment to PNAA mission, vision and values:

    • Served PNAA as an Officer, Board Member, and/or Committee Member at the Chapter and/or national level.

 

Application for the Award

  1. Submit a type-written brief essay (150 words) describing your professional career goal(s) and how the scholarship will assist in achieving this goal(s)

  2. Submit the type-written completed application and the following documents: 

    • Letter of Acceptance to an accredited program (for newly enrolled graduate students)

    • BSN Transcript of Record (for newly enrolled graduate students) 

    • Current Transcript of Record (for continuing graduate students)

    • Three letters of recommendations: one from employer, one from a faculty and one from the Chapter President or any member of the chapter’s Executive Board

    • Resume or Curriculum vitae

    • Photo Release consent

    • Most recent photo (passport-size) 

  3. Submit the completed application and documents electronically (e-mail attachment) to the Chairperson of the PNAA Scholarship Committee no later than ten (10) weeks prior to the PNAA National Convention – on or before May 11, 2016.

 

Requirements for the Awardee

  1. The awardee must be present during the Awards Night at the PNAA National Convention to receive the award.

  2. The awardee must submit a report of his/her academic progress at the end of the academic year to the Chair of the Scholarship Committee.

 

Procedure for Awardee Selection and Monitoring

  • The Chair of the PNAA Scholarship Committee shall submit the committee’s decision and recommendations to the Executive Board for approval eight (8) weeks prior to the National Convention.

  • The Chair of the PNAA Scholarship Committee shall notify the awardee of the decision of the Executive Board in writing and/or via best available technology six (6) weeks prior to the National Convention.
