PNACOH Induction of Officers and Recognition of Members

August 16, 2014 was a most welcomed and anticipated day for PNACOh.  This day was the Chapter’s Induction of Officers and Recognition of Members.  The date was set by all members of our chapter who have participated in the nomination and election process that occurred during the General Assembly meeting on April 2014.

The planning, preparation, search for a pleasant venue and enjoyment activities for our guests were coordinated by the members of the Executive Board and Committee Chairs and Co-Chairs. Because of this great coordination by almost all members, everything just fell into place as planned.  My task as President of our chapter was to arrange for who should be our Inducting Officer.  Upon suggestion by Bessie Schiroky, new VP of PNAA-NCR and on behalf of PNACOh, I invited our new PNAA President, Dr. Leticia Hermosa, Esquire, RN,as our Inducting Officer and she immediately responded, “yes” to our invitation.

The presence of Dr. Letty Hermosa, PNAA President, Bessie Schiroky, Vice President of PNAA North Central Region, Chapter Presidents: Abby Villarroya, PNACin/NKY, Erlinda Gonzales, PNAO, Lena de Jesus, PNANWI, Mattie Upano, PNAI, and their team of nurses have certainly added grace and excitement to our induction.   Filipino organizations in Central Ohio, namely, The Philippine Senior Organization, Philippine American Society of Central Ohio (PASCO), The Order of the Knights of Rizal, The Asian American Health Coalition, Governor’s Council, were well represented also. It was a great honor for our Chapter to have the support and care by all.  We couldn’t be more proud.  Our thanks and appreciation goes to our hard working members for their remarkable ideas and contributions,to their families, and to all the invited guests who attended and participated in the “auction” part of this memorable event.

Dr. Letty Hermosa, Bessie Schiroky, together with Dr. Doris Edwards, Keynote Speaker, rendered such motivational speeches especially with Dr. Hermosa focusing on her theme, “LEAD, EMPOWER & TRANSFORM, Let’s Do It”.  She also shared with us the Goals of her Administration thus making us the first Chapters to hear what her goals were. Bessie focused on encouraging all members to be empowered and act on increasing while maintaining chapter’s membership.  She also encouraged all chapters to welcome or initiate new sub-chapters and named several States in NCR that were still without any Chapter.  Their words were both motivational and inspirational that will forever be etched in our memories.  Here’s hoping that our members will translate their words into action as we go forward. To our Leaders, Dr. Letty Hermosa, Bessie Schiroky, and NCR Chapters Presidents, we acknowledge and appreciate your resolute and authentic leaderships.

It was also a pleasure to host Dr. Letty Hermosa, Bessie Schiroky and all the Chapter Presidents and their team of nurses who came to gather for the first “Townhall Meeting “ that was presided by Dr. Hermosa.  Concerns facing the Chapter Presidents regarding legal issues were addressed.  To hear the offer from our President that she’s there for us, so “make use of me” was definitely very reassuring for everybody.    In the end, many stated that the meeting was productive.  But it   also gave us the opportunity to become personally acquainted with our new PNAA President and Vice President as they start their new administration.  Surely, the camaraderie was very obvious.

Our Chapter is very grateful for the support and care that everybody showered us with during our Induction Day.   Many travelled long distances to join us and we are very thankful for their sacrifices and thoughtfulness.  We are proud to say that we are blessed to be in the company of caring nurses within PNAA.

We are more than happy to share some of the lovely photos of our Induction of Officers.

Thank you very much,

Evelyn Sugiyama,

President, PNACOh
