Candidate’s Statement of Philosophy and Intent

As a member of PNAA I feel it is imperative that I embody the best attributes of the nursing profession. In doing so, it is necessary to keep in mind that PNAA’s motto is to be a positive force in the world arena of nursing. Therefore PNAA must strive to judiciously husband its resources to provide the highest quality of assistance over the widest possible net of recipients.

As an auditor one must ensure that every transaction is verified, accounted, and is analyzed for appropriate use of funds. Reports of activity and expenditures should not only be a numeric balance sheet, they should also be submitted in a timely fashion so that the stakeholders will have an immediate opportunity to examine the value of what was purchased. Expenditures should be examined for the potential for sponsorship opportunities, vendor discounts, group purchasing, and standardizing electronic forms and data. If these tools are already in place then I believe it would be the auditor’s responsibility to work closely with the Treasurer to revise and update as needed the accounting tools to ensure that they utilize the most current technology available at the least cost.

The auditor must also have a system of checks and balances that will allow transparency and honesty in all transactions and an agreed interval of report submission to the Executive Board.
