Candidate’s Statement of Philosophy and Intent

I am humbled and honored to have served on the Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA) Executive Board and look forward to further serve as its President-Elect. I could not do this without YOU. As the largest professional association of Filipino-American nurses in the United States, PNAA CONNECTS nurses of Filipino descent and brings the COMMUNITY together to support career development, share best practices, advocate for our unique needs as a minority ethnic group, and in the typical Filipino approach to life, cheerfully celebrate as we combine work and play in almost all of our activities. We are ONE TEAM, ONE PNAA!

As a Regional Vice President, I directly addressed the issue regarding the concurrency of clinical experience by providing a subject matter expert for case referral and follow up resulting to a 100% completion of required courses and an 88% NCLEX passing rate for affected graduates of nursing schools in the Philippines. I introduced the Buddy System for the Western Region that allowed for meaningful collaboration among Chapter Presidents. During my term as a Circle of President s Regional Representative (COPRR), I took an active role in defining and strengthening the role of COPRR. On the PNAA Executive Board, I advocated to re-evaluate the frequency of regional conventions to meet the needs of our members and reduce burden on the regions and chapters.

TOGETHER, we will BUILD UPON the work of our respectable leaders to continue the momentum that is fueled by your ENGAGEMENT. We need to continue to LEAD, EMPOWER, and TRANSFORM nursing and the society and be active participants to promote SOCIAL ACTION. We need to see the world through a PRISM that will illuminate the radiant colors reflecting the strength of diversity.

In addition, we will:

  1. Reignite the passion, motivation, and inspiration of our membership through the strategic use of  branding

  2. Establish, sustain, and strengthen our relationships with other organizations to create a united force that promotes a culture of health, builds community partnerships, and contributes to nursing practice, research and education

  3. Redesign structures and processes within PNAA to ensure financial sustainability and relevance

  4. Overcome local challenges and embrace new opportunities to make a difference globally

With your help, we will work in an inclusive manner to bring our best thinking to decision making tables both within our organization and the expanding world of healthcare community to carry out our aspirations and strongly position PNAA to become ONE TEAM, ONE PNAA.
