Candidate’s Statement of Philosophy and Intent
As a leader, I have seen PNAA transformed as an organization championing our members’ welfare and advanced as a professional organization.
I will be honored to serve as the Eastern Regional Vice President and facilitate the excellent work that previous leadership has contributed in bringing PNAA into greater heights. My strong organizational and collaborative skills/experience with other Filipino community organizations can help PNAA achieve greater presence by:
Expanding involvement in healthcare policies relevant to the Filipino community
Initiating community based participatory research to reduce healthcare disparities in the US and our homeland
Engaging nursing leaders in the future of our nursing profession through research/education
Promoting healthy living, mindfulness, and mentorship for our members.
As an intelligent and judicious voter, I know that you intend to select the best candidate and wonder how I will implement these lofty goals. I would like to share with you what I do daily to help you understand my passion and commitment to lead PNAA.
As an adjunct faculty at NYU College of Nursing and course coordinator at Case Western, I mentor students and offer practical guidance on what their future roles providing tips on how to navigate the system, referring them to appropriate resources and guidance in scholarly publications:

At the workplace, I mentor my staff in creating their individual development plan to help with their professional goals, knowledge and skills through classes (leadership, technical, management).
Through my role as the former PNA-NY President (2006-2008), Chair of the Human Rights Committee (2006-2010), and Chair of Kalusugan Coalition, I have consistently advocated for our Filipino nurses and the community: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAlbPneZYLs.
