Candidate’s Statement of Philosophy and Intent
I know that PNAA is a professional Nursing organization where I can contribute my knowledge in nursing as well as my leadership abilities. I have been in management positions most of my nursing career, and these experiences have afforded me the ability to mentor and teach young and new nurses. PNAA believes in empowering its members; I am for this as well. I have encouraged nursing assistants to go to nursing school, LPNs to go to RN and pursue their BSN degrees and have helped nurses to become managers. These are commitments that I know PNAA supports.
Membership is crucial in an organization. I have always been involved in recruiting new members. Members are the lifeblood of an organization; and it is essential that we have committed and engaged members to be a viable and vibrant organization.
I support the goals and vision of PNAA to always represent the Filipino American nurse in the best possible way, within the work area, and within the community. PNAA has a wealth of knowledge amongst its members, and the organization is willing to help its members achieve the highest educational potential through research, educational offerings and mentorship.
PNAA is also a very altruistic organization as it encourages its members to help our country people during disasters, get involved in medical missions as well as teaching the Filipino community here and in the Philippines. PNAA collaborates with other organizations to increase its strength, visibility as well as recognition. All in all, my beliefs as a nurse and a Filipino-American at that are in congruence with the mission and vision of PNAA.
