UPDATE # 6

  1. Project HOPE: Nurses Needed for Philippines to serve on NAVY ships
See attached recruitment letter for deployment of nurse volunteers. Of essential value are those who speak Visayan dialects in particular, Waray (and qualified according to the criteria). Project HOPE staff are now in Manila and making their assessment on which sites the volunteers are able to go. We are contacting PNA Inc. as point of contact for PH. Transport is still an issue, hence PH is screening volunteers who are ready to hit the ground running with no need for clinical supervision.

Since this is a long deployment, those who are interested, qualify and are able to travel are encouraged to apply and PH will do the screening. PH is working with the US Navy and their 3 carriers: USS Mercy, USS Freedom and USS George Washington. Field hospitals are being set up.

Alice and PreciousAndam are on the roll and getting inquiries and now closely connected with PH.

  2. PNAAF: I just got word from Ernie Rosas that the Board of Trustees has approved for PNAAF to do relief fundraising. I am waiting to sign the MOU. A joint statement for fundraising will be signed by Ernie and me.

  3. See Attached article on A.Valera’s initiative: “Temporary Protected Status for the estimated one million undocumented Filipinos in the United States, so they can be issued work permits and right to travel ; so that they can provide material and financial support to their families impacted by Yolanda. And most important help our country in dire!!.Granting of TPS does not need a Congressional legislation1”

  4. Email addresshaiyanrelief@mypnaa.orgis working. Select people will be able to access the email.

  5. 1-800 number: Extreme apologies that the 1800 number is still pending which means that PNAA is now on its 4th day without office communication. Though we are receiving emails, I am sure there are calls that we are probably losing.Remy, Iris and Luz are closely working with Merlita. We have approached both AT&T and Comcast to expedite the installation.
